Wingaersheek Beach is absolutely amazing. I can’t believe such clear water exists in New England. On top of that, the rocks made for numerous tide pools the kids waded in and searched for critters all day! They were 150% content being here and I was content with them being in the small tide pools verses the ocean.Β It was much closer to our blanket and shallower of course.
When they weren’t investigating the tide pools, they were climbing the rocks and swimming. They were busy and happy all day!
Why the kids really loved Wingaersheek Beach :
I would say the highlight was low tide though. This is because you could walk into the water for what seems like forever and it was still only knee high with hermit crabs in arms reach where ever you walked. They were enamored with all the life so close. They love holding sea creatures.

- Weather : It has to be a nice day because it is outside and the water here is chilly

Β Now they have you create an account on Yodel app where you have to register and pay to reserve your spot on-line.Β Make reservations up to 10 days in advance.Β Cash is not accepted at the gate.
- Location : An amazing kid friendly beach that has water resembling the Caribbean -in color not warmth. It is cooler by far!

- Tips and Recommendations : Arrive early! We arrived before the beach opened and we waited in a line to enter the beach.Β Β If you are okay with showing up around 3 or so, the beach seems to clear out and I’m sure you would have a better chance at getting in, reservations need to be made online up to 10 days prior here.Β Β Parking for non-residents is $30 week days and $35 weekends or holidays.Β Reserve partial days on-line with a fee of $20 weekdays and $25 weekends and holidays for arriving from 3-5.Β City of Gloucester residents can obtain parking stickers.
- Cons : We paid $30/ $35 to park, that’s pretty steep for beach parking but not for a full day activity for a family of 4!

If your kids are into handling sea creatures, another location they would love would be Biomes, Save the Bay and Breton Point Park.Β Mystic Aquarium is fun too offering less in terms of touching and more in terms of seeing!
