WHat is there to do at lost River :

The Lost River is such a great adventure for kids and adults. There are beautiful sights, natural water features, oh so many stairs and numerous caves to explore here. Some of the caves have large openings while others are tight squeezes, but all are can to be bypassed if you feel the need. There are informative plaques for reading posted throughout the trails. Each cave has a name and a description posted by it so you can read about the tunnel and see if it’s something you dare explore. The kids loved it here. They raced from one cave to the next scurrying around like squirrels 🐿 excited to see what the next one had in store. I am a small woman and some of the caves had me crouched down on my knees to get through to the other side so I’m sure many adults would not be able to comfortably fit through.  My kids liked being able to explore the caves by themselves that we felt we wanted to bypass.  It made them feel grown.  Nothing like a little independence!

Besides caves what is there to see at Lost River :

Beyond the caves, we saw enormous boulders with moss and ferns, waterfalls, a suspension bridge, magnificent views, a giant birds nest, wooden carvings, and gazebos. There was an area for the kids to mine gemstones too.

There was a place to mine, it wasn’t running but maybe that is because it was very quiet when we arrived, there was only a handful of people that was saw on the trail on the weekday we visited (which was awesome for taking our time)

The caves we had to take stairs down to were thrilling

The kids were happy to have their lantern we bought in the gift shop however, they broke it here at the park the same day by banding it into the rocks.  it wasn’t the sturdiest of lanterns but it was light-weight.  If you remember, take your own or head lamps for the kids would be great!

The kids and I commented on how it looks so fall-like here and less so in Rhode Island where we are from.

Again, many sets of wooden stairs and various elevations to climb and walk but totally worth it
