My son could play here forever.ย  If you plan to visit with the kids, know that there is so much for the them to see and explore here. All the kids were very happy as they sat in a circle for a hands-on electricity activity, learned about bees or played in the glow in the dark room. The entire time we were at this museum there were excited kids everywhere as they wandered from each play center to the next smiling.

My sonโ€™s favorite part was the reptiles in the discovery room. Heโ€™s such an animal lover so even this small display of animals ( 4-6 tanks ) made him ecstatic. As a mom, I loved watching him on the zip line and play with the air tubes and scarfs. Those are just few of the activities the kids can enjoy when visiting.

Another amazing area here is their pretend play area. There is a replica of fire fighter truck that made various siren sounds, a play garden with stuffed produce and farm animals, an ice cream and market setup as well as a toddler only play area.

The location of the museum is pretty great too. Niantic boardwalk and Hole in The Wall Beach is literally across the street offering an outdoor area for sand play, ocean viewing and the ability to stretch your legs. There are also cute shops and cafes on the main street the museum is on.

There is a fenced-in outdoor area here. So many activities were going on out here such as waterplay with tubes and bubbles, musical instruments to chime and beat, a zipline, rock walls, and an obstacle course to name a few.

  • Pricing & Admissions : $8 non-member tickets, Military is $5, if you have a library pass or reciprocal cards an on-line $4 fee is charged and you need to show the front desk staff upon entering your card.
  • Location : A hands-on kid friendly museum that is set up to encourage play, education and fun at every station.
  • Parking : There is on street parking that is free.
  • Hours : Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30am-2:30pm.ย  On-line reservations are required currently.
  • Duration : We spent about 2.5 hours here.
  • Tips and Recommendations :ย  Visit Niantic Boardwalkย  and Hole in The Wall beach across the street from the museum in walking distance or just move your car to the free public lot.
  • Consย : Due to COVID, touching each other during activities in circle time was currently prohibited so some of these activities may be altered for everyone’s safety but overall with these precautions in place we still had a great time.

If you are visiting this location with the kids, you can certainly check out the close locations aforementioned, but we also visited Harkness State Park and loved the gardens, meadow and beach there.ย  You should also check out Rocky Neck State Park for it’s unique architecture and beautiful beach with a boardwalk.ย  Another favorite location of ours is Mystic Aquarium. Itย is about 20 minutes away from here.ย ย
