TreeTrails Adventures- Mystic, Connecticut is a unique outdoor experience to enjoy with the kids

When my daughter and I visited TreeTrails Adventures we had the best time together. In fact we had so much fun that we returned with the rest of the family now that their new kids trails are open.Β  If you have adventurous kids looking to try something new, be sure to visit TreeTrails to enjoy a high-flying canopy thrill.

Safety is an essential part of TreeTrails. So, after checking in, there’s a mini hands-on lesson teaching how to use a carabiner making certain you are clipped onto the ropes by a harness and thus safe at all times. Β Although it looks intimidating being up so high on small perches and shaky logs, knowing that you are securely anchored to the ropes provides a big sense of relief.

What to expect while visiting TreeTrails Adventures- Mystic

When my daughter and I arrived, we booked a sunset reservation so we could start our experience when the sunΒ  was going down and complete most of the time there after sunset.Β  So, when it got dark, the decorative lights went on and we were able to maneuver the obstacles with the lights as our guide which added a fun element to the trails. Upbeat music is played for motivating background noise. My daughter loved the complimentary glow jewelry she got to wear while on the ropes courses and keep after the fact.Β  Again, another element of fun for kids and adults to have glow gear!Β Β

The courses are a lot bigger than we initially thought. They extend all the way back on the property via a short lit trail. TreeTrails has various sky-flying obstacle courses of different challenge levels. We stuck to the easier ones due to my daughter’s abilities, height and it being our first time on these outdoor trails. We found that these easier rope trails are still fun and gave us both a great, positive first experience.

At the time when we initially visited, my daughter was not tall enough to reach all the ropes herself so I had to help her. But in certain cases, I could not and the attentive staff at TreeTrails came to her aid immediately. They used their expertise in talking her through the best method to tackle each obstacle when they knew she could achieve it herself.Β  In cases where she just couldn’t ( due to height limitations ), they hoisted up ladders to help her reach taller handles.Β  Keep in mind, this was in the fall before the Kidtrails course opened this Spring.

What we enjoyed most at TreeTrails Adventures- Mystic

What my daughter and I liked best is the bonding time we had on the tricky obstacles. It was challenging at times for us both but, we waited for each other, relying on one another for support and encouragement. We pushed each other past our comfort zones and therefore gained confidence and a self-esteem boost. We were proud of ourselves and each other for our achievements after finishing each course.

here’s the end of the kidtrails ropes course, a small seated zip line that my kids couldn’t get enough of. In fact all the kids here would line up to do this without re-doing the entire course because it was their favorite part!

I love this daytime view of one of the adult courses because it shows the height and provides an idea of how widespread the trails span with various elements (portion that is challenging) to pass over and onto sturdy platforms. The engineers that designed these are super creative!
