Sachuest Point is so relaxing.ย  It is 242 acres of reserve that has 2.4 miles of easy walking trails throughout and gorgeous views of the coast line.ย  It is known as a fishing destination and the east coast’s largest winter population of harlequin ducks.ย  Activities on the refuge include hiking, photography, fishing, and wildlife viewing. There is a small visitor center showing off the animals in the area and nature conservations with restrooms and a small gift shop.ย  ย Animal sightings are frequent at Sachuest Point including deer, various water birds and more.

During our hike, we saw many birds flying around.ย  One was tiny and bright yellow Oriole that whizzed by us so fast I don’t even think the kids caught it.ย  My kids found the hike here to be easy and enjoyable.ย  They loved finding snails and climbing on the rocks.ย  Their main objective while being here was to get in the water.ย  Since it is early spring and they have yet to do that for the season.ย  I thought it was way too windy to get in the water that hasn’t yet warmed up, but that didn’t stop the kids.ย  SO at the end of our hike, we walked toward the sandy shoreline and while I sat on a rock with goosebumps on my legs, Jewel was bouncing around with Jamison on the water’s edge.ย  Isn’t it funny how when you are a child things like cold water are so insignificant and as you get older they are a definite deterrent?
