WhAT THE KIDS LOVE ABOUT WATERPARK NEW ENGLAND

Water Park of New England is an action packed family attraction to enjoy with the kids year round. As New Englanders we experience a variety of weather patterns not so conducive to outdoor swimming so a visit to an indoor waterpark allows you to give your kids the joy of swimming throughout the year leaving weather out of the equation.  How nice is that, concrete plans!

Upon our arrival, we were excited to see the decor of Water Park of New England analogous to a tropical island with vibrant colors, beautiful warm weather birds, pirate ships and inviting scenery throughout.  The space doesn’t really have windows but it has skylights allowing natural light to shine through.  It made us feel as though we were really in a beautiful paradise resort.

LAZY RIVER WAIT

When we visited  Water Park of New England, my kids were huge fans of the lazy river. The design takes riders around a series of other attractions at the park including a splash play area, dumping buckets and numerous water slides.  With life guards staffed throughout, the kids felt safe enough to go on the lazy river themselves several times throughout the day.

Since we visited on a busy winter weekend the park was quite full and that made for a line to get into the lazy river.  It also meant that participants were only allowed to go around the river loop twice before they were told to get off and give others a turn.  There are only a certain amount of rafts allowed on the lazy river at a time to ensure its not too crowded.  While that was annoying while waiting in line, it was definitely appreciated when we were lounging in the lazy river.

OVERNIGHT WITH THE KIDS

Water Park of New England is attached to the Double Tree by Hilton Boston North Shore so guests can stay and purchase tickets separately to the park with their rooms. Day passes are also available.  Since we are in driving distance and we visited on a Sunday, we chose to visit for the day.  However, staying over would have been nice because everyone gets sleepy after a pool day with friends, kids and adults!

If you are looking to stay in the area, check out these lovely stays so you can visit north shore with the family.  The nearby areas of Salem, Gloucester and Ipswich offer many family friendly attractions you are sure to enjoy with the kids.

In my opinion the snack bar could use some improvements. It doesn’t offer too much in terms of healthy options and the flavor is just ok

This is the kiddie play area which has shallow water.  lifeguards did not permit my “big kids” on the slides as not to hurt the little ones.

The Skinny:

  • Weather : This is an indoor water attraction so everyone can visit year round!
  • Parking : FREE plentiful parking
  • Admissions : The price varies depending upon when you visit.  Expect to pay $30-45 per person including those that are not entering the water.  Bystanders will also need to pay the same price.
  • Location :  Indoor water park with pools, slides, a lazy river, a bar and food service connected to a hotel in case you have too much fun!
  • Hours : Friday 4PM-9PM , Saturday 10 AM-8PM, Sunday 11AM-6PM
  • Duration :  We visited from 11-5 so it was a long day and the kids barley sat still, just to eat quickly.
  • Tips and Recommendations :  They sell out online and have limited tickets available at the door so try to plan ahead.  Patrons can not take food or drinks from outside.  So, be sure to either eat ahead or buy typical “kid’s foods”.  I didn’t really enjoy the food but, the kids thought it was fine.  I recommend using the family bathroom.  Space and available shower stalls are hard to come by in the larger restrooms. The bathroom had a leaking ceiling with a moldy aroma so it is in need of renovations.  The main water park area is clean and well-kept though.  In the event of an emergency, there are life guards ready at each pool and throughout the park.  There is a medical facility inside the waterpark keeping everyone safe.
