We have spent some long hours in this library bonding, being silly and playing together. I grew up going to this library, being that I am a native of this area. It was always a go-to for me when I was younger, and now I’m happy to see my kids enjoy themselves here. When they were even younger than they are now, we would go to the weekly story time, which seemed to always fit our schedule, and it was the most adorable thing ever! There were numerous kids with their siblings and parents. There were songs we sang with corresponding dances, wiggle time was always allowed, and after the readings, there was a hands-on art project that followed. These would always fit into the theme you read about previously. It was a pretty ingenious way to spend time with your kids, teach them things, have fun and not spend a dime! The alphabet was displayed, and we went around the circle saying what our names were, and which letter they started with. There were even animal puppets for Old MacDonald to be sang with interactively. I’ve never seen so many puppets! They have quite a collection!

Now that my kids are older, we have not been to story time, but we still enjoy going to the library. They have animals such as a tarantula, her name is Bezus, and a large tank with a few different varieties of fish. Identifying pictures are bound together in a laminated booklet with info about each species. There are window benches for sitting and reading. A puppet show play house with even more puppets, a pretend pirate ship to steer, iPads with kid-friendly apps installed, tables for arts and crafts and friendly / helpful librarians for finding just the right selection for each child. Suggestion book pamphlets are composed, and on display for each child’s age group. Puzzle stations are positioned on low-lying tables for children to conquer too. Classes like yoga and Legos for older kids are offered also free of charge, and are on a sign up first-come-first-serve basis. (So far we have not been to utilize these options just due to schedule conflicts.)

Best of all, the kids can be kids-with loud voices and sometimes meltdowns (as toddlers do frequently), and it is a judgement-free zone! My kids never want to leave when we come, so they can get fussy when I’m ready. This sometimes turns into a chaotic sceneπŸ€ͺ. (sigh-just a day in the life of a mommy) But honestly, this place rocks, and is just a great, easy way to spend even an hour to hang, be social, and productive.
