Pow! Science is a really unique toy store that also has daily activities you can take your kids to. As the name implies, they strive to make science fun at an early age by offering live demos and hands-on activities to engage children.
We went in for an event called “Mining Monday.” ⚒💎💰It was interesting for sure. The children were happy to partake in the activity but they were anxious to go and check out the rest of the store. They therefore, mined quickly in order to explore and play with the toys. Although this activity was fun to see and do once and not too expensive, I don’t think we will be doing it again because as I mentioned, it was over too fast. Also the minerals found were not identified at all. I feel like if the kids are doing the activity it would also be great to have a chart with pictures for the kids to pick out which items they found. There was nothing like that though. Therefore, it was not as educational or informative as I would have liked. The concept and machinery were great though! I’v never seen anything like it elsewhere.
I see why my kids were excited to finish mining. This toy store is big and packed with all their favorites. It is hard to find just a toy store nowadays since Toys R’ Us closed I think Target and Walmart are what’s left. With that being said, this is a lovely store. It is beautifully organized and has so much for every hobby and interest. For example, I’ve never seen so many Melissa and Doug items. Also they had trains, outdoor sports activities like kites, scooters, and balls, legos, brain teasers, card games, board games, LOL dolls, science kits, binoculars, telescopes, trucks, slime, bath toys, activity books, drawing, painting and coloring supplies, also they had those awesome floor tiles previously mentioned in my “Make A Mess” post. The list goes on and on.
We ended up getting a few dinosaur things-a hand puppet of a T-Rex head and a dinosaur egg that hatches with water, some Melissa and Doug dress up necklaces, a fairy, and a slinky. We also purchased some baby toys for an up-coming first birthday. Since I had gifts, they were wrapped with care at the register and I was asked which color ribbon I would like on them. It was such a nice touch to finish off our first experience at the store! It’s awesome not to have to take my time to wrap the gifts later. I tend to be so busy I end up rushing to the store last minute to grab the right wrapping supplies, this just omitted that whole issue and I am beyond delighted. Gift wrapped ☑️ one less thing to do for this busy mama. Now that’s service!
We did go back two more times since this first day doing Kinderscience classes on Fridays at 10-11. Both classes were really fun for my kids. They got to use real science equipment like beakers and droppers. They made reactions and learned about safety. They were learning and excited about what they were going to do. Each class offered a small take-home portion that you could do on your own time with the kids. They love this. Both times they asked me to do our-take home activity the day we went to the class. Its really great and also not badly priced at $8 per child.

- Duration : Most activities run for a full hour so you can spend two total hours in here browsing after the activity
- Cost : The classes cost $8 per child and run a hour long
