Our visit to Wellington State Park in New Hampshire was even better than the kids and I could imagine. We were looking for a place to cool off and swim before heading back home to Rhode Island. So naturally, we wanted something in route to home. This park checked all our boxes.
Upon arriving to Wellington State Park, we were happy to find out that reservations weren’t needed to enter. I paid a small amount of money, was told it was a carry-in, carry-out park and drove to the parking lot.
We walked a short distance through a path and voila…we were at the most beautiful lake with clear, glistening water! My family could not believe their eyes because the view was magical. The kids could not wait to enjoy the day here!
We saw people on canoes, paddle boards and kayaks. Visitors were also on their own inflatable rafts floating by the shore. Being at Wellington State Park certainly was so peaceful and gorgeous.
The kids enjoyed swimming in the water, playing in the sand and their close encounter with the ducks. We brought food with us but, there is a concession stand, a store, changing stalls and restrooms for your convenience.
Our only regret in visiting Wellington State Park is not having our own inflatable rafts. Next time we come here, we intend to bring our own oversized rafts. We saw many people hanging out in the water relaxing on their rafts and I definitely recommend you to take some when you visit here, so you too can relax, lazy-river status in the shallow water.
