What we loved about Roger Williams Park botanical Center :
A visit to Roger Williams Botanical Center is a lot of fun for everyone! When we first arrived, we were enchanted by all the flowers, birds and busy bees. After we got through the first series of gardens there was an opening in a field, we all immediately saw 3 goats with people walking them on leashes! My kids had to see what was going on and pet the goats of course. We found out the triplet goats live on the grounds and tend to them by eating all the weeds!Β Who knew? My kids picked several weeds for the goats to eat and hand-fed them! I learned that you can sign up to walk them. So interesting!
Next, we went into the conservatory which is the tallest of the greenhouses. We were certainly not expecting to see what we did. We were taken aback upon entering. It looked as though we stepped into the Caribbean. We were in awe by the lush vegetation and serine water features. There was just endless beauty in every direction. The adjoined Mediterranean room was also quite lovely.Β We saw carnivorous plants, aloe and cacti along with a koi pond with the biggest koi we’ve ever seen!Β It was pretty special.
The rest of Roger Williams Park Botanical Center was also very lovely.Β There are trees, small ponds and home-made simple branch tipis.Β We had fun finding things on the property such as pine cones and figuring out which tree they came from.Β This location is fun to explore in the different seasons to see enjoy the variety of plants in each season as well as get some much needed warmth when winter is in full swing.
We especially love visiting during their annual Fairy Garden days and have done so for the past 2 April vacations.Β We highly recommend it.Β It’s such a magical event that sparks imagination and interest in creating our own whimsical gardens at home. This year’s theme is dragons which will be extra fun to see all the colors and displays.Β See below for more details and special pricing on this special event.
