Rocky Point has a beautiful view and a paved walking / exercise trail. It has open grounds and some historic Rhode Island paraphernalia of what used to be an amusement park at this same location. For me, I think it needs some work. The grounds are kept in decent shape but the grass looks like it could use better tending to and there just needs to be more of a draw to bring people here. Don’t get me wrong, itβs great if you want to see the ocean, fish or like to exercise outdoors but beyond that it just seems to be lacking something. I wish it had a playground and a nicer looking green space. Currently there is a pier with a large roof being built on the water that is to be T-shaped and there is a newly built pavilion. Iβm glad something is getting built in this beautiful area.Β As the location on the Narragansett Bay itself is truly amazing it just needs some sprucing up!
When you go here, people usually take their own food. There is nothing available to get except in the smaller parking lot New England Frozen Lemonade Truck is usually there on hot days. Iβve never seen anything else for sale with the exception of the food truck nights which is usually in the summer.Β I do see a lot of people using the picnic tables and benches provided as well as taking their own lawn chairs for mobile positioning throughout the day. Leashed dogs are very common.Β Most people are friendly and upbeat.Β Bikers can also be found on the paths. There is a large green space mentioned before that people utilize for personal recreational activities (mostly ball playing, kites and blankets.)

The Skinny:
- Location :Β Rocky Point is 120 acres of land on the water front (Narragansett Bay ) not built up at all,Β paved 1.6 mile walking / exercise trail with leashed dogs welcomed. There is an open green space offering picnic sites, and recreation.Β Fishing and boating are permitted here. Wheel chair and stroller accessible.Β This is a kid friendly / family friendly /pet friendly location
- Duration : We stayed less than an hour but we didn’t stop to sit or eat, we just walked the path leisurely with 2 young kids
- Parking and Admissions : Plenty of FREE parking in 2 lots available.Β FREE entrance as well.Β Β
- Hours :Β Everything that I found says daytime hours so I’m assuming the hours are sunrise to sunset.
- Recommendations and Tips : This area is very sunny and can be cool due to the ocean breeze, there are a few port a potties on site and during events you can find more brought in.Β Bring your own food and drink as there is none for purchase with the possible exception of a lemonade truck set up on Rocky Point Ave near the smaller parking lot.Β There is quite a bit of hilly terrain so consider that when coming with young kids or those with limited mobility.Β I attempted to take my kids bike riding here some time ago.Β Just due to their ages and lack of skills on a bike, it didn’t go over well with the hills.Β I haven’t taken them back for a bike ride here.Β Maybe by now it would be fine because they are more experienced.Β Most of the kids on bikes here are around 8 years of age from what I can tell.
locals have a soft spot for this park by the Narragansett Bay because historically it was a hot spot for so many residents as an amusement park Jewel Approved ππΌ
