We liked Dundery Brook Trail.Β  There were long planked walkways to explore with some dried up water underneath.Β  The foliage was very lush around us.Β  The grounds were pretty.Β  The trails are not marked but are not big.Β  They don’t extend in a loop so we did have to back track.Β  We did the majority of the grounds with the exception of the white trail.Β  That was fine for us because it was pretty muggy and my daughter developed some blisters.Β  It was a relaxing trail and there weren’t too many people on it so that was pleasant too because a majority of the path is very slender and it’s more of a burden to pass people without one of the parties pulling off the trail for a moment.Β  We liked how the trails had benches built into the railings in certain locations.Β  It was nice to sit and watch the birds while having a snack. There are some ponds so we saw some beautiful birds and frogs.Β  We also saw a great deal of beetles which the kids enjoyed.

They sat to eat more food on this bench and we watched the birds while we ate, nice spot to relax

must have been a full moon because these two kids fought most of this hike and then this happened! So sweet and thank goodness it ended I was going crazy

There was no sign about this but doesn’t the black one look like a bat? is that a bat house?

This is the majority of the hiking trails outside of the pond areas and the long walkway you will be walking on these planks

The Skinny:
    • Weather :Β  It has to be a nice day because it is outside
    • ParkingΒ  : Β FREE parking and admission-there are two lots for this trail- one at the Veterans Field behind the tennis courts and a smaller lot on West Main Road, 1.3 miles south of Peckham Road and 0.3 miles north of Meetinghouse Lane.
    • Location : Dundery Brook Trail is about 2 miles of trails that are flat and kid friendly in terms of walk-ability
    • Hours : Sun rise to sun set
    • Duration : We spent 2Β  hours here exploring.Β  We knew it would be a not so ideal day so we went in the morning and intended to leave before the rain
    • Tips and Recommendations : We pack food which I find to be helpful in case the kids need a snack-lol always!Β  Β Also for sitting and admiring the beauty of nature.Β  There was no area to buy food here so take what you need and use bug spray!
    • Cons :Β  This trail is not blazed so that would be helpful also if there were maps posted every so often so you knew how far you were from certain things.Β  It does not go in a loop so you walk it and then walk back once you are at the end.

Β  Visit Grey’s Ice Cream after which is a delicious treat.Β  In previous visits we always saw cows in the field near the stand that we could admire while eating our ice cream but they weren’t out this last visit.Β  Not sure if they will be back but it really makes you feel like you are eating fresh ice cream!
