The Connecticut Science Center is awesome on so many levels-literally! It is a kid friendly modernly designed building with amazing views of Hartford from within.Β  It houses fun, educational and interactive activities laid out over 4 floors. This place is big!

We loved the Connecticut Science Center’s butterfly encounter on the 4th floor.Β  My son wanted to see more dinosaurs but was happy he saw live reptiles and bugs. I adored the sounds and motion floor. For me, that was the highlight but everything was super cool and over the top. My son loved the water play area on the 3rd floor best. We took the advice of the staff and went there last so he wasn’t wet all day. This place definitely delivers on technology, earth science, physics, engineering, STEM,Β  life science and botany as well as insight on culture and history with the Mayan exhibit there when we initially visited.Β  Because we went in the colder months, the roof top garden was closed both times and we never got to see it.Β  I hope we get back to enjoy that area in the warmer months.

The Skinny:

  • Weather : Any as the Connecticut Science Center is an indoor location
  • Parking and Admissions : A garage adjacent to the building -you don’t even have to walk outside. I paid $11 and I was there the whole day -members of the science center get a discount or maybe even free admission?Β  Entrance costs adults $24.95, seniors 65 + $22.95, ages 3-17 / college students / teachers cost $16.95, ages 0-2 are free.
  • Location : The Connecticut Science Center is a6 story skyscraper in Hartford right off the highway exit
  • Duration : 10-3 we did everything that we could do but due to the weather, the rooftop garden was closed sadly and because of COVID other activities were also closed.
  • Tips and Recommendations : As the staff told me, do the water room which is on the entrance floor last so your child is not cold and wet all day.Β  Perhaps taking a change of clothes isn’t a bad idea too.Β  You can take in food at this time because the food court is closed.Β  There is ice cream for sale while inside though.Β
  • Hours : Mainly 10-4 daily but check their calendar to be certain.
