If you love nature and you love animals then you should visit Billings Farm in Vermont. Nestled in the green grass is the most incredible farm that educates visitors about the farming industry of the past in Vermont, creates fun events for the entire family to learn, respect and enjoy the beauty of the world around us and offers animal encounters every step of the way. We visited Billings Farm in early August because we wanted to see the sunflower garden and visit with the animals. Both of these ideas exceeded our expectations. The property itself is beautiful with well-kept barns and vast options to meander the meadows, gardens, farm pens, and museum. Billings has the most beautiful artwork on the barns and during our visit inside the museum, a quilt exhibit is on display. We even were able to see the milking demonstration and learn about the dairy process that takes place at the farm. Highlights for us all were seeing the adorable baby cows and enjoy feeling their gentle nibbles. Besides cows, Billings Farm has chickens, sheep, goats, horses, and oxen. The sunflower maize is another perk offering not just sunflowers but special unique varieties of foliage in deep purple and eggplant colors contrasting the vivid yellow and making for that kid in a candy store jaw drop upon viewing. It was simply stunning to view and walk through.

If you enjoyed Billings Farm, you will also love Davis Farmland in Massachusetts with numerous farm animals and play areas, It’s definitely worth a visit. Another location that we enjoy visiting is Sachuest Point in Rhode Island. With it’s coastal views and animal sightings, you can not find a better family nature trail in Rhode Island.
