Everyone in my family adored Attitash Mountain.Β It was beautiful to see driving up to the resort from the exterior and even more beautiful on the gondola ride to the top of the peak.Β The kids loved being on the gondola, although for me with my figity-do-it-myself son, I was a bit paranoid on the gondola ride.Β Once we arrived at the top safely my paranoia melted away.Β He rode down with my husband and my daughter rode down with me.Β It was a blessing that it worked this way because my son is more of the dare devil and my daughter is cautious.Β We went at a steady pace because the woman in front of us was going pretty slow-she was the adult version of my daughter so we had no choice.Β Either way, the whole family thought this was just such a great way to bring up the moral and kick off our family vacation with a bang!
The location had a nice tunnel to walk under in order to get across the street to the restaurants and retail area.Β Also there were ski themed benches for sitting which I thought was pretty awesome.Β We could see water slides that my daughter was begging to go down but they were closed sadly due to COVID.Β I’m sure this place is also great for ski-lovers in winter.Β Overall it was a hit for both the kids and the parents alike!

The Skinny:
- Weather : This is an outdoor location so you need a good dry day
- Parking and Admissions : Free and plentiful parking for a family of 4 (2 kids and 2 adults) this costs about $80 ($18 for adults and $15 for children but it dependent upon height-see the photo above at the window)
- Location : Attitash Mountain is a Ski resort in winter andΒ has Alpine Slides or sleds to slide down the mountain in man-made paths that have built-in break handles to operate in the off season.Β The resort offers other summer activities such as water slides andΒ zip lines but they were closed when we visited.
- Hours : Saturday, Sunday, Monday 10:00 am β 6:00 pm (Weather Permitting)Β We came twice this day because when we first arrived, although it wasn’t raining it was threatening to and eventually did so they closed down for a couple of hours.
- Duration : We spent 2 hours here. The lines were long.Β You waited to pay then waited to board the gondola and then again to get on the actual slide.Β So that part was not that exciting!Β Especially considering that the ride itself is pretty short maybe 10 minutes long and that is being generous.
- Tips and Recommendations :This was the first day of our vacation so we were ready to do something adventurous after sitting in the car for the morning.Β This fit the bill, it was beautiful, scenic and thrilling packaged into one experience.Β Wear sturdy shoes.Β Check the forecast because they close if rain approaches because the brakes won’t function in rain.Β I would have rated this a 10 if everything was open and the lines moved faster along with the cost being less.Β Those were the downsides of this activity for us.Β Despite all of that, I would say that it is worth the patience and splurge on this activity because the ambiance here and the views along with the slide are not everyday experiences so why not live it up a bit especially when on vacation?
