Take the kids to the Boston Museum of Science
Boston Museum of Science is a spectacularly engaging family attraction to take the kids to in Massachusetts. There is so much to see and do with 3 floors of educational, hands-on fun, what’s not to love?
things we loved at the boston Museum of Science
My kids love the exhibits about space, the senses, animal and life sciences as well as the science in the park. Another fun exhibit room was the maker space area with motion and balls as well as computer technology. Everyone was intrigued by the Antarctica room too. The IA exhibit is interactive and cutting edge. I feel lucky as a mom to be able to expose my kids to such amazing technology in our area to ignite their minds. I guess you can say that we can’t pick which exhibit of the Boston Museum of Science we like best because, we enjoy them all!
Enjoying Life sciences at Boston Museum of science
By the way, if your kids love animals like mine, MOS has an array of living animals to see. We saw several small creatures including insects, snakes, turtles, bunnies as well as several species of taxidermy. Although preserved animals aren’t our thing, they do afford opportunities to get up close to animals to see their true sizes and textures which is unreal and eye-opening. When visiting in winter, we didn’t see any butterflies but were told they do have a small butterfly experience in warmer months.

The Skinny:
- Weather : As Boston Museum of Science is an indoor space, weather doesn’t matter although its great to visit Boston on a day where you can walk around outside.
- Parking : There is a parking garage on the property.
- Admissions : Adult $29, kids (3-11) $ 24 , Seniors (60 +) $25, under 3 is FREE. you can become a Museum of science member for $100-$235 depending on your needs. This includes membership reciprocity to other science centers, museums and zoos in the nation. What an economical way to visit various places with the kids!
- Location : A large science museum with 3 long floors packed with information and things to touch, smell and play with. We never completed the museum in 1 day. That’s because theres a lot of ground to cover and we like to take our time. But, maybe after having an overview you could go back and complete your top interests in 1 day.
- Hours : Saturday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Friday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
- Duration : We tend to come mid-day and stay until closing time, That means we spend 4-5 hours easily at Boston MOS with still more left to see and do.
- Tips and Recommendations : There is a cafe inside the Boston Museum of Science but the Galleria Mall with restaurants is close by as well. If you want a better meal, check it out as it’s in walking distance.

Since you like Science Museums, you should also check out the Connecticut Science Center. If you are looking for more fun in Massachusetts with the kids, The New England Aquarium and The Butterfly Place are great indoor spaces to enjoy.
