The kids and I were thrilled upon entering Heritage Museum and Gardens. We loved the moat carrying water by the admissions booth. It was a prequel to what we would see later walking through the gardens.
Heritage Gardens is more than a typical garden center. Besides the amazing flowers, you will find a vast, changing display of antique cars, a carousel, a nature play area with a tree house, a water play station, musical instruments, an engineering area and much more. We also encountered trails throughout the park that are running off the main paved walkway. These areas are great for exploring off the beaten path but tend to loop back around to the main walkway.
Because there is a lot of ground to cover here, so many parents and grandparents had strollers for their kids. We did see several golf carts and trams driving passengers throughout the grounds which is great for those who get tired or just find it to be too much walking. It certainly helps for either the young or old who still wish to enjoy Heritage Gardens. What a great idea right? Their website says that complimentary transportation is available at seven fixed stops throughout the grounds. Our crew of kids liked watching them pass by but we didn’t get on.

Since you have inquisitive kids, maybe they are curious about language too? The kids started taking on-line Spanish classes and it’s been super fun and helpful! We recommend this program. My kids laugh while they learn one-on-one with the instructors, whom engage them with stuffed animals and various items that would capture their interest. Check it out here and sign up for a free trail. What do you have to lose? I just know you will love it too!
The Skinny:
- Weather : There is a good amount of walking involved and more of the exhibits are outside than indoors so visit on a day where the weather cooperates.
- Parking : Free plentiful parking
- Admissions : Adults: $21, Youth (3-17): $11, Children 2 and under: FREE
- Location : Exquisite gardens and museums including education about nature conservation, cars, a carousel and history. Mainly paved walkways but there are also trails over mulch and seashells.
- Hours : Open from April 23, 2022 until October 16, 2022 10 am to 5 pm daily.
- Duration : We stayed here three hours and left because the kids really wanted to visit the beach.
- Tips and Recommendations : You may bring your own food, water, and soft drinks for a picnic or purchase food on-site. No pets are allowed. Registered service dogs are welcome. Check out their upcoming events as there is always something scheduled such as Food Truck Fridays and Gardens Aglow that changes throughout the year.
