Legos and nature was a spectacular exhibit
Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects exhibition made of Lego bricks shaped into works of art displays throughout the garden. This exhibit showcases animal endangered species, the balance of ecosystems and the relationship of man with nature.
Green animals with kids :
This location is picturesque. The flowers are amazing and vibrant, the open space and water view from the meadow is perfect. David Rogers’ Big Bugs exhibit that was on display when we visited and it was better than we anticipated. The giant bugs were shiny, detailed and enormous. The kids loved finding each bug and special shaped hedge on the maps provided and checking them off. It was like a scavenger hunt to them. The topiaries are incredible. The shapes are marvelous! The kids loved finding the animals best but the hearts were also a favorite.
Favorite part of Green animals Garden
The kids and I had a great time visiting these gardens. We are always in awe of the creativity and beauty of gardens when we visit them. There were vegetables, flowers and uniquely-shaped hedges that my kids were mesmerized with. They loved running through the grounds and seeing what else was next to find. Around every corner was a surprise with something new and more exciting. Their favorite area was the small koi pond because it had two resident frogs in it. The frogs were very happy to be on display and seemed comfortable knowing the kids would not grab them. Maybe over-confident frogs??😂! They were correct though.
Green animals gardens and what else?
After viewing the gardens we took to the meadow with strategically placed Adirondack chairs looking toward the ocean. There was several hedges in animal shapes that the kids enjoyed hiding under and escaping the sun. Beyond the rock wall that separated the meadow from the ocean was also railroad tracks. The kids got a kick out of watching the carts pass by and then visiting the coast themselves doing what else-hunting for crabs of course!
Because this location has a beautiful view, fun-shaped animal bushes and beautiful flowers along with open space to run and enjoy nature, it checks off all our boxes. Hope your kids enjoy it too!

For us, this was a perfect morning!

Currently this purchase is the “Stroll the Grounds” package allowing for grounds entrance to any three properties : The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House and The Green Animals Topiary Garden until October 31st- time is running out!
- Location : This is a coastal garden property of the Newport Preservation Society that offers beautifully landscaped gardens and hedges worth exploring.
- Hours : 10am-6pm friday-monday April 15th until October 31st.
- Duration : We spent 3 hours or so here poking around, running in the meadow and exploring the shore just past the rock wall.
- Tips and Recommendations : Dress comfortable. Pack a picnic basket as they are welcomed here! Keep your tickets as they are good for 3 other admissions either here, the grounds of the Elms, Breakers and Marble House (for the price that’s a great deal ).
