On a family trip to New Hampshire, we had time to kill and found this amazing nature trail. It was in a rural area with a small area to park. The kids loved the trail’s slopes because we had fun running up and down the many hills. The best part was the surprise waterfall! It was great because we could climb to the top of the fall and look down. Another plus for us was the reptiles the kids found. We were here for such a short time and ran through most of the trail due to some early dinner reservations made the day before. With that being said, we saw both a toad and a snake so the kids were delighted! This was our first trail run but it was exhilarating and I’m sure it won’t be the last. The whole family felt like ninja turtles running through the property jumping off peaks, over downed trees and launching down hills. Just use caution as there are many tree roots and wet rocks.
The kids enjoyed the many fungi varieties here and the see saw planked walk way. Check the video out because my son enjoys getting messy always taking it too far😆.
If you are in the area and looking for a free, yet fantastic nature trail off the beaten path, check this out. We would highly recommend it!

The Skinny:
- Weather : Since this is a completely outside area, you should visit on a dry day for optimal comfort in the elements.
- Parking and Admissions : This area is in a rural neighborhood so the parking is limited to 3-4 spots but it was enough as we were the only ones parked here on a weekend day that was great hiking weather.
- Location : Varied levels of grounds with streams, flowing water, rock, tree roots, benches and a spectacular waterfall not to be missed, All Trails says the loop trail is 1.6 miles and ranks it Easy.
- Hours : There are no hours listed.
- Duration : We spent about 2 hours here, everyone wanted to stay longer but we had dinner reservations we had to get back for.
- Tips and Recommendations : It’s pretty shaded here with all sorts of mushrooms growing and some interesting walkways via stones of planks to cross over so hiking boots would be great and binoculars too to spot suspicious noise makers. Leashed dogs are welcome here.

If your kids liked Walter / Newton natural area, then try visiting Echo Lake where you will find a lake and many hiking locations. Another area we liked in Quincy Bog which is not too far away.
